I woke up about half an hour ago. The whole crew has gone to Mikumi for a safari. I was tempted to go, but, realizing that I have less than a week here, I declined the offer. It feels great to wake up at 10 AM for once. God bless Sunday. Last night, I was exhausted. After prayers, I went home to reapply my unnecessarily thick coating of bug spray and ended up falling asleep here at home. I was woken up at 11 PM by Shahida (COEJ Mentor) and Neelam who informed me that we have guests coming over today and the conference room needed to be cleaned. We cleaned until about 3 AM, after which we went straight to bed. Getting seven hours of sleep feels glorious. I need to do this more often when I am back on campus.
Today will not be a very busy day. I have the usual schedule in the afternoon but there is no prep at night so I am free after prayers again. I think I will try and dig in the evening / at night just because it is too hot during the day. If the COEJ crew is back, I'll take two of them with me. The ground is not easy to dig in so this whole sandpit thing is taking longer than I had hoped / expected. Insha'Allah, we will get it done soon. We have a few new administrative projects that I have been asked to complete so I'll need to find some time to get those done as well.
I need to jump into the shower and get ready soon, but, because I have a few minutes, I figured I could post a few pictures from the trip, thus far, as I have a minute this morning.
.. I wrote that part this morning, but our internet fell out so I was unable to post it. I was also unable to load the pictures. I'll try again later perhaps. A few pieces of good news. Firstly, my cricket is alive!! I heard Ja'far this morning after my shower. It was such a relief. I still haven't seen him but it's good to know that he hasn't died. The thought just occurred to me that I could have heard a different cricket, but I'm pretty sure it was him. Secondly, my water heater has not been working at all, but this morning for some odd reason it kicked in hard core. I have never taken such a glorious shower. Thirdly, I went to the orphanage to check out the sandpit and figure out what to do about the lack-of-progress. I am going to try watering the soil to make it friendlier to the shovel this evening and see how that works. Nana Bashir also told me to talk to Deyo, the manager of construction here on campus, to discuss what to do about the soil.
I am sitting in Nana Bashir's office right now trying not to throw my computer at the wall. I am working on sponsorship stuff. I hope I can get this all finalized before I leave. It will be a real shame. I'm waiting on a lot of finance information from the administration for different students as well as a little bit of academic information from the schools. Without numbers from them, I will be unable to complete the report. No bueno.
Okay, gotta run now. Hope this posts!

no bueno at all, but i can definitely relate. the clock is ticking and there's so much left to do, so much i won't be able to finish. i almost feel like it would make sense to take the semester off and continue helping out. but we know that wouldn't be wise; it's frustrating.
